Hello TGIFFers!
I am excited to be hosting my first TGIFF, and also very excited that I have actually finished one of my poor neglected WIP's!
This quilt has been in progress for longer than I care to remember. When I wrote about her in December 2010, she had been sitting in a WIP box for at least a year.
Finally I got motivated, pieced a backing, basted and started quilting. Then I had a little disaster with what I thought was a water erasable pen, but which apparently wasn't.

After recovering from that little episode, she travelled to a few markets with me to liven up our display (no binding and all). But this week, long after starting her, I put together a scrappy binding. I took her to hospital and she kept me company while I waited for my daughter to go into surgery (nothing major, but her first general anaesthetic, eek!).
I love that last little bit of the quilt making process, sitting snuggled up with the quilt spread across my lap, hand stitching the binding on. And it was great to sit there focusing on my stitches rather than what we were there for.

So here she is, all complete, maybe 3 years after she was started:

| I'm sure she is rolling her eyes at how long it took me. |
Now it's your turn to share. I'm positive your project won't have been languishing in WIP Land as long as mine has.
Please include a link and/or button for TGIFF! on your blog so your visitors can see the other fab finishes. It's also lovely to go visiting - check out a couple of the linked projects and share a little comment love. I'm sure you'll get good quilting karma in return.

ReplyDeletea really sweet little quilt, good that she is finally finished, and i have WIP' in my cupboard that are probably as old as you. They are still WIP's and not UFO's as they still occupy my mind as to what is needed to get them finished,
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the lovely comments. Zara is going great - kids bounce back much faster than us!
ReplyDeleteShe's very cute!!
ReplyDeleteHope your daughter will recover well and fast.
By the way, did you know that you're a no-reply blogger? True story! :)
I did not know that, Kit! Ages and ages ago I made sure to set it up so I wasn't a no-reply blogger, but I think the migration to Google+ may have something to do with it. Thanks for letting me know. :)
DeleteIt sure is cute!
ReplyDeleteI do have to say that you make me feel much better about the quilt I posted today. It feels like I've worked on it forever, but it's only been about a year since I started it.
Now I have to see what quilt I want to start for myself next.
She's adorable, worth the wait! Congratulations on the finish :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. My "Friend" is still in the brown paper bag with the material. mmmm Three years ....mmmm
ReplyDeleteI have that kit! Thanks for the reminder. :)
